“They made me do it” Because for years to come we’ll still all be argueing about what the movie was REALLY about. That’s why Donnie Darko is best!
Amazing original soundtrack by Michael Andrews. Songs by Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Gary Jules, Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Church

I still cry from this scene (as in picture above) till the very end. Oh and i have seen it soooo many times. What a fantastic film. Has anyone here seen the directors cut? I have not had the pleasure yet.
Directors cut actually incorporates clips from the Parallel Universe book…really makes more sense too…
Both of them are fantastic though!
“I’m beginning to doubt your commitment to “Sparkle Motion”.
OMG I have a Sparkle Motion t-shirt… nobody ever understands it.
i just love this film! no bad words about it! classic.
Donnie Darko is the most gimicky and pretentious film. However, the score is amazingly complete, Michael Andrews is a wonderful composer, it is just a shame that he and Maggie Gyllenhaal had to be involved with this…
this movie pwns hxcore… well directed 2. directors cut is so much better though
believe or not, back to the future 2 made me understand this movie
I think you only understand this movie until you see it again :)
I’ve loved Donnie Darko ever since my brother showed it to me and my parents a few years back. I now have my own copy since he’s gone to college, and I watch it all the time! =]
Donnie Darko is undoubtedly the best film ever made. Jake gyllenhaal is hot. Anyone who disagrees can go suck a fuck!
How exactly DO you suck a fuck?
we’ll talk after class…
o.o; O..kay.. Well my fave quotes from this will have to be “Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?” “Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?”
So if I watch this again, it’ll make sense?
Nevermind.
I’ve seen this four times and I still don’t get it. :|
The movie’s kind of open to interpretation, but, in my opinion, one of the main themes is how every choice we make has consequences. Donnie felt that, by the end, his death saved the lives of several people including his mother, sister, and girlfriend. (His mother and sister because they would never have made that plane trip if he had died initially).
I saw this movie the second time with my dad. He’s a real dead head. And when you think Donnie is going to Kill his g/f in the cinema he let out an “Oh no!”. He still said he hated the film, but he says that about every film…
You thought he was going to kill his girlfriend in the cinema? Pfff. You obviously have no faith in Donnie.
I have a friend who recently watched this and she told me that I just have to see it! Should I watch the original version or directors cut?
By all means, the original!
Well thank you very much for that quick reply ma’am! I’m on my way to Blockbuster!
Enjoy!
(And be sure to tell us what you think when you’re done!)
Is the directors cut okay for someone whose seen the original six times or more? Or will it ruin it?
Well I got about half way through the movie and the damn DVD started skipping and shit. I was so infuriated!! I was really getting into it! So I went back to the video store but that particular Blockbuster didn’t have another copy…so I exchanged it for Striptease
Demi Moore after her boob job right? Burt Reynolds? I kind of feel bad for you.
Striptease… Donnie Darko… practically the same movie!
Alright that was a lie…I rented Dazed and Confused. One of my favorite movies!
A Classic!
“That’s what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.”
RAWR ! Get back to Donnie, boys. He’s hotter than you anyways.
i love this film so much, my friend showed it to me a couple of weeks ago, its ao awesome, and donnie is so hot!
Never seen it is it worth watching?
YES ! Definately. Watch it.
" But i think you're the fucking antichrist"
this movie, as strange as it may seem, makes me feel so much better when i'm depressed.
and the jake gyllenhaal-ness of it all doesn't hurt, either.
I love that one guy who voted the #1 Donnie Darko fan..lol..and how he made that Donnie Darko song :p
the movie is about pradox
Pradox eh… Isn't he Tom Bosleys' nephew?!?
Never seen it, what is it about
I'd be lying if i said i understood it…
It's about 2 hrs
I don't consider this the best case Rabbits, a David Lynch work, has not just one Giant Bunny on the screen, but 3! :)
she swears it's schizophrenia, and i say it's time travel.
I thought it was something deep like that, but when I watched it enough times and heard what the director said, as disappointing as it sounds, I think it comes dlown to simple teenage angst.
This movie is so cool I like the Mad World song it plays.
Well, to understand the movie, first you need a working brain. You clearly see God has a ctrait path for everything, he was meant to die that night he was "sleepwalking" . But the "evil" part of the world took him out of his house. Because he did that, he did all of those terrible things to the people. His lover died and many people were hurt. So he went back through time at the date that was on his arm which he says at the ending of the movie. So as I said, he went through time, and stayed in his bed, so the plane had killed him, then everything was back to normal for everyone else. As for the time traveling stuff, it's all said in the movie. my rating is five stars because the movie is so great, and I love the attitud of the character, Donnie Darko. Now you guys can stop fighting over it, because I just told you the whole "thing" of the movie
