Haha, once in my psychology class there was the theory that Men are the "hunters" and that women are the "gatherers." Supposedly that's why most men flip through TV channels so much faster, they're "hunting" for a channel. And why women seem to stop on every channel to "gather" information. It when on into other areas, it even gave a theory for why men hate asking for directions, but I can't really remember it fully.

You both have good arguments in this case as to whether you can be emo and different or not. 

Saying you're emo, means you're conforming to a style. Conformity is a lack of individuality. If you are different, you are choosing to repress it by conforming to the Emo way.

Then again, being emo doesn't restrict you from being different in some aspects of your life. Such as, you could be emo, but plan on becoming a nun later on in life. That's pretty different.

 But, for the most part, being emo means you're chooseing to be the same as a  group of people.
