Tony-winning actress and singer Heather Headley first starred as the adult Nala in "The Lion King" on Broadway and went on to play the title character in Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida," for which she won her Tony. I saw her as Nala in "The Lion King," and she put on a marvelous performance.
