okay. the internet is a huge network made up of little bitty networks. i guess a few of them have humongous database thingies to store the gazillions of different stuffs that go on. it started as an attempt by the u.s. to network all their sattelite dishes together, then the guy in charge of the project got the bright idea that this could revolutionize the way people did just about everything.
Way to keep it simple, for the feebleminded. Do you happen to know the name of this "guy in charge"?
