Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born on May 16th, 1966, as the youngest child of the Jackson-Family. Though born into America's greatest musical family, she began her show business career as an actress. In 1982, after signing to A&M Records, Janet released her first record called "Janet Jackson". In 1986, Janet released her album "Control", which was wildly successful. Aside from the music, Janet helps out a number of charities. In March of 2001 MTV Icon honored Janet as one of the most influential artists in contemporary pop and R&B.
