John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980), was a 20th-century English songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, painter, and political activist who gained worldwide fame as one of the founders of the Beatles. Lennon and Paul McCartney formed a critically acclaimed and commercially successful partnership writing songs for the Beatles and other artists. Lennon, with his cynical edge and knack for introspection, and McCartney, with his storytelling optimism and gift for melody, complemented one another uniquely. In his solo career, Lennon wrote and recorded songs such as “Imagine” and “Give Peace a Chance”.

I’m not really sure i fI think that John is the best female singer I’ve seen, he’s not even in my top 5! Barry White is my number 1!!
John is not a female.. Hes a male singer…
I miss John so much…:( I think the world would still get so much inspiration from his witty attitude, songs, lyrics…
I love ya John, I miss you always! Watch Imagine: John Lennon, great movie.
:)
thanks
I really miss him…
I wouldn't call it activism. Pro peace is very much different from Anti war. One is generating positive energy, the other is fueled by anger which only adds to hate.
John Lenon was not the end. If John Lenon is what you want, then carry his spirit with you up to Capitol Hill, yourself as a symbol. Peace is not a goal that is unreachable. It starts with each one of us searching inside ourselves. As long as we point to the outside world, seperating ourselves from that which is a part of us, we only fuel the fire.
But still, if John was here today….:(
I would call it activism. He was actively pushing for peace.
And let's face it, while some people may do the small things, even if some manage to get air time on radio and television shows or organize a big rally, the majority of the country won't get behind it (they may support peace but not work towards any major goal). A person who can pull people together is needed. And that is what John Lennon was good at. Maybe the best after the sixties ended.
The 'majority of the country' was not behind the ideals he presented. Nevertheless, he was a threat. You are obviously concerned with political issues. Will you merely stand as another voice in a forum?
Usually I sit.
Sorry, I don't want to be one of those people who holds the comments captive, so I'll just say one more thing on the subject. I don't mean "majority" in the statistical sense. I guess a better word would be popular. He was maybe the biggest pop star of his time and the biggest peace activist. I don't think there's anyone with that much of a following anymore (even, say, an Angelina Jolie or some other celebrity). Someone with that much of a following can influence people who would not ordinarily be activists to help out.
Anyway, there's a lot more I want to say and, really, it's very complicated and long (and it's late) so I'll end with:
He's funny as hell in A Hard Day's Night, and,
Well, Well, Well is a great song.
(Maybe that was more than one thing.)
Yes in A Hard Day's Night he is really hilarious!!
Imagine: John Lennon, great movie.is a great documentary… it makes me tear up every time they discuss his death. he was an amazing man… All the press show up at his home for a press conferance in bed (they think it's going to be kinky) but all they talk about is peace… and a man verbally abuses him and he kills him with kindness.gotta love him.
lennon hits road….. specially those music lovers…
john lennon i love! im telling u if he had lived for a little while long i think he would have revolutionized rock.. again :)
Really? I think he's either be living alone in New York, with a rare occasional release, maybe a reunion tour here and there, but playing basically the same thing. Like everyone else. Except maybe he'd be leading another peace movement. Except it would't be all that big.
well to each his own :)
Happy Birthday John
67....if
really!? is that 2day?
COOL! im gonna start saying that 2day!
67 right? cool!
The best ever!
Some of my friends are used to saying "Lennon is God". That's blasphemous. Lennon isn't God, obviously. Lennon is more than God!
haha, tell god that ;)
Alright. Here I go...
God: Lennon has justified my life in a better way than yours.
(That's it). Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! :)
haha that'll work
the more i learn about john lennon the more i am amazed!
John Lennon wasn't just an amazing musician, he was an amazing bringer of peace. He made many people realize we need peace. We still don't have peace today, which is very sad. Violence is everywhere and we need to stop it. John Lennon knew that…
"Oh my Love" is such a pretty song...as is "Imagine".
Too bad that he had to die so horribly.
sometimes its best to go out on top, but i think he is immortal as long as his songs and the soul in them lives in someone's heart. as far as inspiring peace and equality goes, he rocked the world more than Martin Luther King Jr. did (maybe because he found a better way to communicate, maybe because he was caucasian, probably both). it wasnt his time, and he would have flown higer than ever, but for the person that ended it all by pulling a trigger.
