The State was a half hour long sketch comedy television show, broadcast on MTV from 1993 to 1995. The cast consisted of Kevin Allison, Michael Ian Black, Ben Garant, Todd Holoubek, Michael Patrick Jann, Kerri Kenney, Thomas Lennon, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Michael Showalter and David Wain.
Garant, Lennon, and Kenney (now Kenney-Silver) went on to create the popular Comedy Central series Reno 911!, while Black, Showalter and Wain later formed the New York-based alt-comedy group Stella, and the comedy series of the same name.
