The United States of America (also known as the United States, the U.S., the U.S.A., and America) is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico and a sea border with Russia. The United States is a federal republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C.
The present-day continental United States has been inhabited for at least 15,000 years by indigenous tribes. After European exploration and settlement in the 16th century, the English established their own colonies—and gained control of others that had been begun by other European nations—in the eastern portion of the continent in the 17th and early 18th centuries. On July 4, 1776, at war with Britain over fair governance, thirteen of these colonies declared their independence. In 1783, the war ended in British acceptance of the new nation. Since then, the United States of America has more than quadrupled in size: it now consists of 50 states and one federal district; it also has numerous overseas territories.
At over 3.7 million square miles (over 9.5 million km²), the U.S. is the third or fourth largest country by total area, depending on whether China’s figures include its disputed areas. It is the world’s third most populous nation, with 300 million people.
The date of the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776, is generally considered to be the date on which the U.S. was founded. The first federal government was constituted under the Articles of Confederation, adopted in 1781. The Articles were replaced by the Constitution, adopted in 1787. Since its establishment, the liberal democratic nature of the government has grown as suffrage has been extended to more citizens. American military, economic, cultural, and political influence increased throughout the 20th century. With the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War, the nation emerged as the world’s sole remaining superpower. Today, the United States plays a major role in world affairs.

USA was born with Freedom in mind and even though it’s corrupted by now, but it’s still there more than anywhere else. Go USA !
I’M GLAD OUR FREEDOM DOESN ’T ENABLE ME TO GO SKINNY DIPPING WITHOUT PAYING $112 IN FINES .
In theory…sure.
Just remember that the price of freedom is not eternal vigilance but a third world slave market enforced by a bloated military budget and a history of dicking around with the internal politics of other nations.
Something to ponder:
No other nation has invaded more sovereign nations than the good ol’ US of A.
a) Why has the American flag removed, and b) why has the category “Best Country” been removed?
Just add them back on.
Sure we live in a bubble, and sure we take our freedoms for grants, and sure we live in a police state in the name of security, and sure we screw up every else’s country in the name of capitalism and freedom, but at least I can go anywhere in my country without carrying a weapon, without a strong religious sect ready to kill my wife because she doesn’t wear a veil, and it is a place that we live and die protected by two oceans and broad desert plain. If you hate america, don’t buy our products (which we don’t make anymore) and don’t sell us products (which, by the way, puts food on your table).
country of fat and not so smart people… sorry, that’s your public image…
sure bush is a …., and sure most of our leaders have always been, but he who thinks we are all fat and stupid has obviously never been here. not many who have been here have ever wanted to leave. we vacation to every place on earth, while every place on earth has some faction of people trying to figure out a way into our country. i dont know, maybe the world is trying to be fat and stupid, or maybe the world just loves to hate fat and stupid people. either way, im not fat. stupid, however, would be your opinion, and i wont deny you that. it would be unamerican of me. cheers fatty. and dont apologize, if its the “public opinion” (i guess im not considered a part of that), then thats ok. just tell your country (poland) to stop trying to help out our stupid fat wars by giving us thousands of troops. ive been trying to tell mine, they just wont listen. so i guess its fair to say that your country, i mean “the public”, loves stupid fat people? get real, get educated, make a difference. dont hate, it sets us all back.
War and Lies are the fondations of USA .
Damn, I forgot your fat hamburgers…
lol..i love people that don’t live in the USA . They are so jealous that they talk shit about us :D I also love how we are “fat” and “unsmart” people. hmm….well, you can think what you think, but your retarded for thinking that. How come everyone comes running to us with their problems? Becuase we are #1, and people that don’t live here, are just jealous that they aren’t here.
jealous…?? pfffffff…ahahahahah it’s better if you hide yourself think before speaking and reflect before thinking
yeah i’m jealous, our government won’t take away our rights, our government doesn’t want to start WW III , Our government doesn’t listen to the big company’s to make new laws… damn i’m jealous
lol….i love how people hate us for the Nuclear bomb, but if we wouldn’t have used it, then the nazi’s would have used it on us! So some of you people need to suck it up and reaise that not everything is an easy decision.
God Bless America…Land that I love!
nazi didn’t have nuclear bomb. Dropping bomb has accelerated process to the end of war and gave to USA all “merits” to that… ah yes it also killed 100.000/200.000 civilians… but the perfect american citizen didn’t care about this. god bless america…
It’s stupid to argue with each other as to whether the US is good or bad because by arguing you don’t get anywhere. Most people from America will argue it’s the best and most who aren’t will argue it’s the worst, but people are entitled to their opinions. Where does it get us? People in general will be ignorant and not change their opinion so why argue? Also, pointing out a stereotype just proves the ignorance of people. I come from Wisconsin, but I deteste fast food, and am not unsmart(IMHO, others may beg to differ), but could I not say that all Europeans smell and don’t know how to bathe? or that all asians are computer wizs, stereotyping people just shows a level of ignorance that is so bothersome it’s unbelievable. If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that.
US dropped a bomb on Japan and yet they are one of our biggest allies. We aren’t perfect, but we are still the best country to live in. Ask all the immigrants that are here and risked everything to come to this country. I know a few and their stories of sneaking out of their homelands in the dark of night. Ask them if they regret it and they will tell you no.
“the best country to live in” is denatable. Clandestine immigrant from Albania, Libia, Morocco and north africa that come in Italy ona a small boat during the night and then will go to jail are saying the same thing. A clandestine escape is the last choice, it’s obvious that it’s better for him the new location.
Maybe but when was the last time you heard of someone leaving the United States in the middle of the night because of repression.

Think about it.
“The only nation on earth that has true freedom of religion, speech, and press.”
Erm…The UK?
Euhm…The Netherlands????
United States government, not the people, is like a rich greedy retarded 5 year old with a large gun. Worse than any fanatic religious sect on this planet that cares more about money than people. No building falls faster than gravity and jet fuel doesn’t burn hot enough to melt steel. Wake up people. The whole in the pentagon was 15 feet wide, and a 757 is like 125 feet wide, and where did the 2 big ass 6 ton Rolls Royce motors disappear. Where are the bodies? just google or youtube 9-11 and check what intelligent people have to say about this. I am a proud American but enough is enough. Come on. Smell the coffee. Talking about freedom in America. Just google Jordan Maxwell and listen to what he has to say about that shit. Not saying that it’s true but it’s pretty interesting.
Its not just military invasion of other countries, its the forcing of a worldwide starbucks, macdonalds, burgerking etc financial empires that rape the environment in the third worl to feed the second with the profits heading to the US. perhaps thats why other countries hate us.
the US is like superman: moral, ethical, decent, generous, and powerful. like superman, the US is not perfect; kryptonite exists. and like superman, many are jealous of the US.
If any displeased American wants to swap places with me, feel free! I’d love to live in the States.
“forcing of a worldwide starbucks, macdonalds, burgerking”
that’s not forcing. that’s business.
I love the amount of people that come on here and waste their time bashing us and our land. Please, we know you hate us, but we don’t really care. But if you’re that angry just keep on talking we’ll just keep rolling our eyes at you.
“we know you hate us, but we don’t really care”
well said.
I would enlarge this statement by saying that we care to extent that we think this (or any) sentiment is legitimate.
no question that america is hated, but the question is: does that say more about america or more about those who hate america?
We do have freedom but on a chart I found we are number 53 there are many more places with way more freedom
I’m not denying there are places that have more of certain good things than does america.
but one does not live one’s life by charts.
in your own life, in what way are your freedoms limited?
what countries have you visited that have more freedom in this regard?
Why do some people like to defend their country so much soon the earth shall be destroyed or we will die so theres no purpose in arguing
I just hope the next pres we have isn’t a douche like George W. Bush.
I agree MeansDarling
Why do americans insist on antagonizing people? have you lot ever actually had a complement that wasn’t from yourselves? seriously, you’re actually very annoying people. And you are much hated all around the world. Maybe you should just take pride in being the butt of people’s jokes.
“you are much hated all around the world”
the question is: does that say more about the USA or more about those who hate us?
No, I think we are hated by most people around the world.

I posted it so much becasue its true
when you were a kid, didn’t your parents warn you about too much interest in “being popular”? didn’t they tell you not to worry overmuch about what other kids thought?
to give some perspective on international popularity contests: in a recent poll, the top three most hated nations were: israel, iran, and the US.
feel free to visit each of those three nations, either in person or virtually (thru reading, TV, internet) and come to your own conclusions about whether it belongs in the top three.
I’m reminded of the sesame street song and game “one of these things is not like the other…”
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAHBLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
sorry to offend anyone, but american people are often very offensive and rude. it gets annoying.

Being hated around the world, will not be great in the long term for the US. It wont be great for US business. It hasn’t been great for US currency.
no question that america is hated, but the question is: does that say more about america or more about those who hate america?
Um, what?
